Privacy groups with separate passwords, with access to specific galleries
Give users the ability to create groups with arbitrary 'labels' e.g. : family, friends, work colleagues, parents, etc.
Allow a different password to be set for each of these groups, and perhaps even some generic settings (what size photos they get to see, for example)
In gallery settings allow a tick box to tick which 'groups' may see this gallery. (include an "all" tick box too)
When someone goes to the site, they type in the password they were given, which is the one of the group they're in. Then they get to see only what galleries have been checked…

Let me password protect categories!
So I've created a category called "Just for Family," with sub-categories of years (2009, 2008, 2007). I've password protected every gallery within the category with the SAME password so they only have to enter a password one time. And say I want to create galleries like, "New job search" or "My trip to Las Vegas" without my employer or co-workers being able to even read the existence of such galleries (and see the feature thumbnail). It's OK that every visitor knows I have a locked category called "just for family" but I don't want them browsing the history of my…

make password protected galleries searchable
Currently you have to be logged in to your SM site to get search results that include protected galleries. I'd like to be able to provide a keyword or event code that clients can use to quickly find the right gallery (while keeping the gallery protected). With this feature, coupled with virtual galleries, SmugMug will take over the world (or at least the tri-state area).

Allow Category and Subcategory Views in Sharegroups
Currently, Sharegroups only display a flat view of Galleries which loses any organization of category/subcategory structure. Please extend to Sharegroups the same option that the homepage allows and also add subcategory to both homepage and sharegroups.

Allow "Map This" for password protected galleries
The "Map This" button does not show on password protected galleries. Once the password is entered and they have access to the photos, they should be able to see where they were taken if the geography flag is set.

Allow full gallery download to specific users (or simple on/off functionality)
I share quite a bit with family and friends, and it can get frustrating when someone puts up pictures you'd like to save to your computer or add to one of your albums (perhaps from the same event).
I propose one of two options: either a user-specific sharing system that allows specified SmugMug users to have full-download access to another user's gallery, or a simple on-off switch (in gallery settings) for full-download functionality.
As an example, a few of us go on vacation. We all have different cameras and upload pictures to our respective SmugMug pages. I would like my…

being able to view protected galleries on an iphone/ipod touch.
Right now, when someone views a gallery on iphone/ipod touch view, they can not see any password protected galleries. You can see all of the public galleries just fine. Since my pictures are of children, the parents want these galleries password protected.
I have had many complaints from my customers about this. This could be deal breaker for us!

Password for high res file download
If high res file download could be accessed by separate password or coupon, one could offer prints to the public while reserving downloads to the media for publication or other special people without having to create a duplicate gallery just to allow high res download access

Grant per-user Gallery access using OpenID
Having a global password for a gallery is inadequate -- it makes it too easy for users to share the password with others. Also, if I want to cut off a person's access, the only way to do that is change the password for everyone.
Since Smugmug is already an OpenID provider, it would be great if it could also be an OpenID consumer and allow me to grant Gallery access for individual users. This would be more granular than Sharegroups -- individual friends/family members/clients could have their own custom view activated by a login they already have via Google,…

Allow "Map This" in unlisted galleries
Currently, mapping features are not available in unlisted galleries, even though the linked map from an unlisted gallery would still be unlisted. This needs to change.

Watermark for all levels,
As photographers protecting our work is essential, no mater what level you have Watermarks should be available to everyone. Even if its just a corner to corner X or Smugmug in the center. If you want to use this as a incentive for upgrading they allow custom ones higher levels.
But all levels should be secure, same with right clicks saves. You say secure 100% but its not unless you go Pro.28 votes -
allow us to hide categories in the same way that we can hide a gallery.
There are certain galleries that I would like to keep private, but I don't want to have to send several links for a close friend to see them. If I could hide an entire category, it would let me share several galleries with friends through one link.

Allow free low-res digital downloads...
I'd like to be able to allow in certain galleries an option for people to be able to download low res photos for free, without watermarks. Currently, the only way to do this is to put a price of a penny on the download. Removing right click protection is only acceptable if there are no watermarks.

A better solution for hosting both private and public content
I've struggled to set my site up with two Homepage views - one private and the other public. I'm not a Pro managing separate clients and events (although this solution could apply there as well). I'm an amateur photographer and dad who uses Smugmug primarily to share memories with my family and friends (aka the private view). However I also like to display some small portion of content to the anonymous public visitor (aka the public view). This suggestion is for people who want to have their Homepage and all content display in one of these two modes depending on…

Popular photos should be available to password protected sites (islands)
For Popular Photos, SmugMug is clearly storing votes on my photos somewhere - since I can give a photo thumbs-up and when I return the next day SmugMug still knows I had given thumbs-up on that photo... so, that leads me to believe that it can't be all that complicated to allow my homepage to have a filled in Popular Photos section while still excluding my popular photos from other SmugMug sites.
While I understand that it helps to build SmugMug's brand by having everyone share their photos with everyone - I have zero interest in letting complete strangers view…18 votes -
I would like to have visitors required to give email address to enter site
In this world of contact management, it would be nice if the viewers were required to give an email address so we can see who is viewing the files and then use some sort of contact management to schedule emall communication to the viewers to easily market to them.

exclude certain galleries from site-wide password
It makes sense to me that there should be an option to "specifically" make a gallery Public, even if he whole site is PW protected. this would allow sending URL links to a gallery, without the "guest" having to enter a PW.

Assign a Gallery to a Sharegroup as I Create It
What I want to do is assign a gallery to a sharegroup as i create it.
Similar to the way i can assign it to a category. It is a pain to
create a gallery, then have to go to sharegroups and assign it. I know
this sounds pretty lazy, but we create a lot of galleries, and a
shortcut to assign a share group would be great.13 votes -
Improve Assistant Logins
I am creating a gallery for the use of our company. For our purposes, it would be wonderful to have multiple logins with tracking, and the ability to select which login has access to certain functions. For example, it would be nice to say Bob has access to the payment info and editing, but not to gallery arrangement, while sam can edit comments but not payment, passwords or galleries. Claire can upload photos, but only delete what she herself uploaded, I have full access to everything, and joe can edit various settings. -In the master account, I could see who…

View photos/slideshows without watermarks when logged in.
It would be nice to see photos full size and without watermarks when logged in instead of having to owner save them. The new SM IPad app is great but it still limits the size and leaves the watermark even though you are logged in. I think this would be nice to add this feature on the main site as well. Sometimes I like to show my clients full size slideshows. To do this I must change the gallery settings even though I'm logged into the site. And sometimes I forget to change it back :( I can't think of…
