There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Include an option to select which pages Site-Wide Customization applies to and which it doesn't

There is no option to keep default smugmug templates for specific pages when site-wide customization is applied. There should be an option for developers to select specific pages in which they would like to apply "site-wide customization". That way users can have the best of both worlds.

        • make it possible to control the APPEARANCE ORDER of Events featured on the Homepage.

I would like to be able to control the order of appearance for events i create and choose to feature on the homepage. Right now, i can control the Ascending/Descending order of events while creating them in the EVENT Management interface, but once i save them and feature them on my homepage, they appear in an unorganized and illogical order.
Why isn't the same Ascending/Descending function applicable to the homepage?

          • allow us to modify quick settings and automatically update galleries

make it possible to modify gallery quick settings. Right now if I want to change a quick setting I basically have to make the change and then do a "SAVE AS" for that change and create a new quick set. If I want this change to be on other galleries I would have to "Apply Quick Settings to multiple galleries" and pick which galleries should use the new quick set. Why can't I just change the setting and it could then automatically be applied to all the galleries with this quick set

            • remove "smugmug" on browser tabs for power accounts

smugmug is still to visible. I don't really need any of the other pro-features and don't see why I should be paying more than twice as much ($20 vs. $8 per month) just to be able to have the "smugmug" name removed from any browser tabs that people see when they visit my site. I would be willing to pay more, but not that much more! Consider the power-plus account...

                Anne Bean responded

                Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. I want to make sure I fully understand this. In what browser are you seeing SmugMug? and are referring to the small image/favicon? Or the word “SmugMug”?

                Thanks!

                -Anne

              • allow Pros to remove footer

This was apparently a short lived option. Some folks are still grandfathered in, but Smugmug's current policy is to force a smugmug branding on our sites (various tricks to hide it are prohibited).

I understand the need for branding, but as Pros paying quite a bit yearly, I think we should have the choice of whether we want the branding or not. I feel as if Smugmug is trying to play a small part at running my site.

Can we get this option back please?

                • warning when trying to save, when site is in read-only mode

Is there a way you could pop-up a warning when we try and save changes to the site when it is in Read-Only mode.

I was making changes to one of my pricelists and saving my changes as I went along - Smugmug kept telling me that my changes had been saved, but it turns out they were not, because the site had been put into read-only mode for diagnostic purposes (I totally get this, btw). I just wish that the site would tell me that it is in read-only mode instead of telling me that my changes are being…

                  • Allow for gradients as backgrounds. I don't want just a solid color background.

I want to be able to add a gradient of two or more colors (at least 2) as a background of my page.

                    • More/better/updated gallery themes please!

I think a few themes on Smugmug are pretty nice, but most of them are a little old and some are even a little tacky.
I know there are options to customize, but I dont have the time for that.
Please please make available some smart good looking themes!

                      • specify each gallery's banner in its settings

I would like to be able to use a banner for each Gallery without having to change the CSS code. Under the Gallery setup create a module for uploading the banner.

                        • Create an "Under Construction" modal dialog option

Since users must customize their site while it is "live" and visible to everyone, I'd like to see an option under my Control Panel to enable a modal dialog (visible when my homepage loads) that informs visitors that the site is currently under construction. Ideally, the message in the dialog would be customizable via textbox.

The dialog would look similar to the Contact Form popup currently accessed via the link in the site footer.

                          • Allow different gallery settings for owner and visitor - in particular "Camera Info"

The owner frequently wants to inspect camera info but the visitors have little need.

                            • Hompage Layout Editor

How about a layout editor, maybe similar to Blogger's, where we can arrange and size the elements (preferably with multiple columns) and add HTML sections (besides the Bio) for text and custom elements.

Currently if I want to put in something in the description tab for all 100 of my equestrian riders, I have to do so one by one. That is outdated, there should be an option to add it to every description in the sub-categories!

                                  • allow users to choose how many "Most Populars" they have on their own site.

It would be nice if we could choose any number for our own Most Populars; possibly even for visitors to see more than the usual thousand if they would like to, even for the Sitewide Most Populars (i.e. a "click for more" button or some such thing). Other sites show you how many items there are altogether in a partciular category and you can flip through all of them, but smugmug only goes to 1000 -- it's a lot, but I personally would like to have the option for more.

                                    • Set gallery expiration dates within gallery settings

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be able to set gallery expiration dates within my settings. I only allow clients to view their gallery for X amount of days and then have to manually go in and change the password to something random that they won't know.

I would like the choice to have their gallery password work for a certain amount of days that I can designate and then when it expires default to a "Your gallery has expired, please contact for more information" kind of deal. Maybe even a "days left" counter when they have to log in…

                                      • Customization -- Provide a more robust customization testing or temporary staging area/preview mode

Customization at this point includes doing live updates to a "production" site. Something that we really shouldn't be doing. Would be good if we had a way to test out a complete set of customizations over the course of a few weeks - including styles, javascript, custom domain and content. Maybe have a fully functional temporary staging area for pre-production customization.

                                        • Music makes everything better!

Being able to upload songs for viewers to play for each gallery can set the mood for each different photoshoot you are presenting.

The topic of music appears to be highly contested based on the comments here. At this time we are concentrating on developing some other awesome features that we know will benefit everyone. Please continue to discuss this as it will help us understand how we might be be able to use music more effectively in the future.
